Snack
Please try and send snacks that will help your child make it to lunch and that are not filled with sugar. We have snack anytime between 9-10am and then have lunch at 12:10pm. It is really important that they have something healthy to help them make it to lunch time.
Reading
We are reading a story called Family Pictures. It is pictures painted and then a paragraph telling about what is going on in the picture. We are discussing our own family memories and will be drawing pictures and writing paragraphs to describe what is going on in the pictures.
Word Work
Students have been seeing how many words they can create from the letters in the word Halloween. We have been practicing using dictionaries, the thesaurus, and the internent to look up words.
We have also been trying to expand our vocabulary by learing the meaning and how to pronounce big words!
Be sure to check the agenda to look at those words.

Social
Northeastern States packet should have been turned in. All students took the state test and our whole class passed the test with 100%!!
Writing
We have been writing many personal narratives in Writing Workshop. Students have been brainstorming people, places and things that matter to them and then listing memories about them. They then retell that event and write it down in a story.
We also have been working on Adjectives. Students wrote Halloween poems using as many adjectives as they could come up with to describe the noun they chose about fall or Halloween.

Math
We have just started Unit 3-it is all about measurement. Students will practice measuring to the nearest inch, 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch. We will also continue to keep other skills sharp through doing all the math box pages that go with each lesson. Remember to check the agenda for the lesson we are on.
There are a lot of websites where your child can practice math facts, time, money, story problems, adding and subtracting. Go to our district website and go to the MHES media and you find a bunch of them.
